Matt Batchelor is a multi-award winning Director of Photography based in NYC.

Drawn to subcultures and the human condition, Matt has a  passion for working with real people and telling real stories. From a documentary background, Matt has brought that

instinct into his commercial and narrative work.

At 18 years old he set out to visit all the oceans of the world telling the story of a father and daughter teaching disabled kids how to surf. That documentary

became an Amazon Prime film and Matt’s first experience shooting for a streamer. Evolving from a verite focused style of storytelling, Matt has migrated into

the world of narrative and commercial filmmaking, bringing with him the years of experience.

His first narrative feature was executive produced by Paul Feig under Scott Free Films. His second narrative feature “Mam” directed by Nan Fiex and produced

by Marine Garnier is premiering at the 73 San Sebastian International Film Festival.   He just wrapped production on a feature documentary directed by Laura

Waters Hinson about the life and legacy of Elisabeth Elliot.  Matt is also in production on a feature documentary about a Mens Prison choir.

He has worked with directors at Stink, Knucklehead, A&E, among others and shot projects for Google, Toyota, GM, H&M, Nissan, Snapchat, to name a few.

Matt greatly prides himself on his collaboration with Directors and believes in a robust preproduction process but more than anything loves to tell good

stories with good people.
